Thunderbirds are go at the Great Yorkshire Show!

Langside Thunderbird Breed Champion and Reserve Interbreed Champion at the Great Yorkshire Show 2015. Our shearling ewe (MJH1404256) was 4th in her class and was sired by Strathbogie Umpire. Our ewe lamb sired by Thunderbird placed 6th in her class. We were also pleased to have both of our Ram Lambs placed 7th; our ram lamb sired by Garngour Vodka stood in the Open Ram Lamb with our ram lamb sired by Langside Thunderbird standing in the Performance Recored Ram Lamb Class.

Garngour Vodka

Vodka was Supreme Champion at the Solway and Tyne Texel Breeders Club presale show in 2014. A young lamb, born at the end of March, he is by the 38,000gns Springwell Ulsterboy and out of a Strathbogie Smokey Blue daughter. Vodka has an index of 320.
Vodkas first 8 sons sold in 2015 averaged 815gns, this includes top prices of 2,000gns and 1,000gns twice.

Vodka was 1st prize stock ram lamb in the Northern Area flock competition 2014. Garngour Vodka semen for sale.

Hull House Voyager sold for 3,400gns at the English National Sale 2014

Voyager (MJH1404522 pictured left) was 2nd prize in the open ram lamb class at the presale show and later sold for 3,400gns to Baggot Farms, Stafford. Voyager is a son of Hilltop Predator out of a dam by Castleknowe Matchmaker.

Hull House Vice Versa also sold at the English National for 2,400gns to Mr Carter, Devon. He is a son of Sportsmans Terrific out of a dam by Hull House Rothchild. He sold with an index of 312.
The Hull House pen of 5 ram lambs sold to average 1,514gns.

Past flock competition results


The Hull House flock has been entering both the Northern Area Texel Breeders Club and the North West Texel Breeders Club flock competitions for 7 years, with our first entry being in 2008.

In that time
the Hull House flock has been Overall Champion Flock 5 times and Reserve Champion Flock 4 times, with 5 First prizes in the Large Flock category and 5 Second Prizes in the Large Flock category. (NATBC Champion in years 2011, 2012, 2013 and Reserve Champion in 2014. NWTBC Champion in years 2008 and 2011, Reserve Champion in years 2012, 2013 and 2014). We were also selected to represent the Northern Area Texel Breeders Club in the British Texel Club's 40th Anniversary National Flock competition in 2014. Champion flock in this competition was awarded to the Springhill Flock belonging to Mr John Foster from Northern Ireland, breeder of one of our most successful stock rams Springhill Norris.

In the same 7 years we have also
won Best Large Pen of Ewe Lambs 5 times and had Overall Champion Pen of Ewe Lambs twice.

These are some of the prizes Langside Thunderbird won at the Great Yorkshire Show in 2015 where he was Breed Champion and Reserve Interbreed Champion. This was the 30th anniversary of Hull House first winning the Supreme Champion trophy, with our first win back in 1985! We have now won this trophy 9 times over the last 30 years.

Undercover's full brother Hull House Utopia II sold at Lanark for 3,000gns; his full sister was our ewe lamb shown at the Great Yorkshire Show 2013.

Undercover was 1st prize stock ram in the North West Texel Breeders Club flock competition 2013.

11 Hull House ram lambs sired by Kelso Pavarotti average 2,440gns.

For the 2011/2012 crop of lambs we used Kelso Pavarotti across 3 of the best breeding families at Hull House. This included the dams of Hull House Space Cowboy and Hull House Schnapps (both sold at Lanark 2011). Of 12 ram lambs born by Pavarotti we sold 10 lambs at the premier sales across the UK and one sold privately; these 11 averaged 2,440gns. One of the Pavarotti sons is being retained.
Kelso Pavarotti was purchased by Messrs Campbell, Cowal, for 40,000gns at Lanark in 2009. Pavarotti has sired sons to 22,000gns (Cowal Rob Roy) and 20,000gns (Sportman's Supreme). Pavarotti has a Signet Performance Recorded Index of 366 which places him in the top 1% of the Texel breed.
