About us

The Hull House flock was founded in 1979 and was based on a combination of Dutch fleshing qualities and wool with the stronger boned French sheep. Over the years our aim has been to produce Texels with a good depth of muscle, strong bone and sound mobility with the close wool that is essential for crossing rams. The foundation for our flock came from the rams Annan Masterpiece and Beautry Nazarov, both champions in the show ring and at home, producing our first show teams and breeding sheep with tremendous conformation and character, together with the J.L. ewe Simone whose outstanding daughters became the main bloodline throughout the flock; she was also the grand dam of Hull House Rockstar. This winning combination brought us Supreme Championships at: The Royal Show (twice), The Great Yorkshire Show (6 times) and 3 female and 2 Male Championships at The Royal Welsh Show, in the years 1982 -1990. Commitments at home kept us out of the show ring in the following years. In 2003 the addition of Springwell Jaguar, Baltier Jaguar and 5 new females including Grougfoot Mollie (MDG 03196 purchased for 11,000gns) revitalized the flock. We made our first steps back onto the show scene in 2004. In this year we took the Overall Texel Championship at The Great Yorkshire Show as well as Reserve Overall champion at The Royal Show. Since then we have taken Supreme Championships at The Great Yorkshire Show (three times) along with Reserve Overall Championships at The Great Yorkshire Show, The Royal Show and The Royal Welsh show.

Almost 40 years on, our aim remains the same - to breed the ultimate terminal sire.
